It is with great sadness that we report that Bill Price, Governor of the Trust, passed away on 28th March 2020, at the grand age of 93.
Bill’s energy for service defied his years. He started as a Governor of the Trust at the tender age of 77 and had already been serving the community in many ways over many years. An electrical engineer by profession, Bill became a lay reader in 1974 with the Church of England and served on the General Synod and the Diocesan Synod. He continued conducting services at Christ Church, Bexleyheath and taking funerals until shortly before he died.
Bill served on many local charities as well as the Trust, including the John Payne Charity and Foster’s Educational Foundation, and was Chairman of Governors for Foster’s School and Vice-Chairman of Governors for Trinity School. He was freeman and liveryman of the City of London, was awarded an MBE for services to the Church of England and electrical industry and the Bishop of Rochester presented him with the Order of St Andrew for services to Rochester Diocese. In 2019 he was greatly privileged to be presented with the Maundy Money by the Queen.
Bill will be sadly missed for his quick quips, knowledge and wisdom and valuable contribution to the Trust over the years.
