The Trust was honoured and delighted to be chosen to be presented with one of the 350 trees which made up the “Tree of Trees” sculpture, installed outside Buckingham Palace as the centrepiece of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations. The presentation was made by the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, and included a silver pot embossed with Her Late Majesty’s cypher “in recognition of the vital contribution that [the Trust makes] in [its] community, and as a symbol of a greener environment for the future in the United Kingdom”. The Trust was just one of 18 organisations throughout the London boroughs to be selected.
The presentation was made at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, the home of the iconic Chelsea Pensioners. Nigel Betts, Warren Foot and Linda Clayton attended on behalf of the Trust and were accompanied by Dave Easton, Bexley’s Deputy Lieutenant.
The tree will be planted in Danson Park and will join over a million other trees already planted as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.
