It is a great honour that the Trust has been publicly commended during a debate on the Veterans Advisory and Pensions Committees Bill on 24th March 2023 in Westminster by both our local MP, Louie French, and James Heappey MP, Minister of State (Minister for Armed Forces and Veterans). We are now forever recorded in Hansard, the official record of all Parliamentary debates! Read the extracts below.
“I welcome the fact that, at its heart, this Bill helps to deliver on that duty, as reflected in the support it has received from brilliant veterans’ charities, including the Royal British Legion, SSAFA—the Armed Forces Charity, Help for Heroes and, in my local community, East Wickham & Welling War Memorial Trust, which does wonderful work each year to support local causes and local veterans. I commend my hon. Friend the Member for Aberconwy again for his clear passion to ensure that all veterans receive the support they deserve after they have made such honourable sacrifices for our country and our safety.”

“Finally, my hon. Friend the Member for Old Bexley and Sidcup (Mr French) established himself as a keen supporter of veterans in his community. He mentioned the national charities of the Royal British Legion, SSAFA and Help for Heroes, as well as mentioning the East Wickham and Welling War Memorial Trust in his constituency. It is great that its work has been put on the record today, too.”
