Welling’s Own Poppy Factory

In the week leading up to Remembrance, children from St Michael’s East Wickham Primary School were busy making poppies, to remember the men from East Wickham and Welling who died in the First World War. Each junior child made a poppy in memory of one of the 120 men and these were displayed all around St Michael’s Church at our Festival of Remembrance as a striking and poignant reminder of the sacrifice made by the men and the community.

Children in the Infants also took part and made a beautiful ‘stairway of poppies’ display for the school. Our thanks go to the all of the children and staff of St Michael’s School.
