As part of our WElling WILL REMEMBER THEM project we recently ran some Welling in the War workshops for children of primary school age to learn alongside a chosen grown-up. We were pleased to welcome Mums, Dads and Grandparents.
Around 30 families took part over three sessions and learned about the First World War through crafts, quizzes and games. Local teacher Margaret Conway led the workshops and also took the children and adults back to school at the time of the war.
At the end of each session we held a short Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial and the children laid poppies they had made, each dedicated to one of the men who had died.
